Rebecca Beardmore completed her undergraduate studies at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, before returning to Canada to undertake postgraduate research at the University of Alberta. After a three month residency in Tokyo, Japan she returned to Sydney in 2001.
Rebecca has exhibited extensively in North America, Europe and Asia as well as Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Her work is held in numerous institutional, museum and private collections, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Rhode Island School of Art and Design and The University of Alberta, Print Study Centre.
Rebecca is a lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney and has previously lectured at The National Art School, Sydney and The University of Alberta, Canada.
Her work is situated very much on the boundaries of perception, having a fugitive presence that is almost an absence, in which the viewer is partially reflected, setting up a provocative and shifting relationship between the artist , the work, its meaning, and the viewer. Rebecca Beardmore's work plays on the limitations of visual experience, setting up a subtle interplay between image, text, and material surface where each layer is presented with such fragility that they cannot be collectively discerned.
In 2010, Rebecca Beardmore was the winner of the Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award.

Seeing Between II, by Rebecca Beardmore.
Rebecca Beardmore, a lecturer at the Sydney College of the Arts, has won the $12,000 major acquisitive prize in this year's Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award.
The work, titled Seeing Between II, explores the fragile relationship between seeing, perception and understanding through a mixture of traditional and digital printmaking techniques.
Beardmore captured the image by taking a digital photograph of a mirrored reflective surface.
This innovative approach was a strong factor in her success, with judges describing the work as "a timely example of how printmakers adapt to modern technology".
Beardmore has been lecturing at SCA since 2002, teaching a range of studio and seminar based courses covering the technical and thematic aspects of photo-based silkscreen, print installation, digital imaging and artist publications.
She has exhibited extensively both nationally and overseas, with her work held in numerous private, institutional and museum collections, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, China's Guandong Museum of Art and the Rhode Island School of Art.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Sydney College of the Arts, Beardmore undertook postgraduate research at the University of Alberta, Canada, also completing a three-month residency in Tokyo, Japan.
She is currently working on a new exhibition, On Reflection, to be held at Rozelle gallery Artereal from 1 to 22 December.
