BERKSHIRE TOURISM: Growth and Diversity Lead the Way
Ray Kushi, Jr. a partner in the accounting firm of Kushi, Myers & Demers, PC, is being honored this month as the Chamber's Outstanding Volunteer.Ray never looked back when he was appointed chair of the Chamber board last year.He gave 110 %, attended nearly every Chamber event, and kept up the pace -- even during the tax season! noted Chamber president David Colby.Kushi chaired the Chamber's board of directors during a year that featured the successful outcome of the negotiations between GE and the EPA, the Chamber's application for national accreditation, the construction of a new building by Hi Tech Mold & Tool at the Chamber's technology park, and a number of legislative challenges including the paper currency debate that threatened Crane & Company.A Berkshire native, Kushi has been volunteering his services in the community for many years.Prior to being named chair of the board, he served as vice-chair of the Chamber's Government Relations Council for two years.In 1990, he received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the American Red Cross, where he has volunteered his services for 16 years, including a tenure as chair of the board.Kushi is a long-time volunteer for Berkshire United Way, a corporator of Berkshire Bank, a board member of Berkshire Center for Families and Children, and a 30-year member of the Country Club of Pittsfield where he served as president for three years and treasurer for nine years.He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs.Kushi resides in Lenox with his wife, Elaine and their daughters, Elisa and Erin.Back to Main News
