"For me personally, nothing replaces face-to-face communication," Pentis said. "It doesn't cost money. It just takes time." So last Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m., Pentis and Capt. James Fryhoff conducted TOPD's third monthly Coffee with the Chief, this time at The Village at Moorpark shopping center on Moorpark Road.

Randy Pentis Commander Randy Pentis Commander RANDY PENTIS Randy Pentis Randy Pentis is in his 30th year of law enforcement with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department with almost 20 years serving with the Thousand Oaks Police Department. He has a broad and diverse public safety background. He has worked Patrol, Investigations, Special Enforcement Detail, and was one of the first gang investigators for Thousand Oaks. He has also worked as a Patrol Sergeant and Training Sergeant in Thousand Oaks before being promoted to Police Captain. He has over 12 years of management experience in various assignments including: Detention Services (where he oversaw operations at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility), Police Chief for the City of Fillmore, and as Assistant Police Chief for the City of Thousand Oaks. He is currently concluding an assignment as Police Captain overseeing the Court Services Bureau at the Hall of Justice in Ventura. He was just promoted to Commander and will begin as Thousand Oaks Police Chief on March 26, 2012. Commander Randy Pentis

Thousand Oaks Police Chief Randy Pentis invites residents to attend sit down meet-and-greet sessions at local coffee retailers as part of a new program "Coffee with the Chief."
Residents and local business owners will have the opportunity to meet with the Chief over coffee and discuss local happenings and ask questions about the department. "I want to be more accessible to the public and give them opportunities to problem solve face-to-face," explained Pentis.
