"The truck kind of sandwiched the middle car with the mini-van," reported Deputy Randy Dillow of the Bland County Sheriff's Office.
"There was only one kid in the parking lot that saw what happened. The other kids were parked and inside the school. It's a good thing because somebody could have been run over."
According to the deputy, the truck apparently slipped out of gear and started moving.Dillow
was told by a mechanic that older trucks sometimes lose compression which causes the gear to shift by itself.
The deputy reported the truck sustained only a small dent on its bumper hitch. The other vehicles, he
said, didn't fare as well.
Damage to the middle car, a 2006 Chevrolet coupe, was estimated at more than $8,000 by the deputy.
The front grill of the mini-van sustained minimal damage, according to Dillow
