Bellflower Mayor Randy Bomgaars Joins Local Businesses and Community Leaders in Distributing Toys and Gifts to Children Whose Lives Have Been Shattered by Abuse or Neglect
Local business leaders, council members, schools, churches, and members of the newly created South Bay Olive Crest Board, as well as Bellflower's Mayor Randy Bomgaars, were on hand to celebrate the holidays with Olive Crest. Bomgaars, who is also a teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, presented Olive Crest with a Certificate of Achievement.
"Having been both a schoolteacher and a public servant for many years, I'm well aware of the challenges facing children and families these days, so I'm really delighted to have Olive Crest's Family Resource Center here in Bellflower," said Bomgaars.

Congratulations to Randy Bomgaars -- Bellflower's First Five-Time Mayor>
Randy Bomgaars became the City of Bellflower's first-ever five-term Mayor when he was selected to the post during the City Council's annual reorganization on March 24th.
Bomgaars was first elected to the Bellflower City Council in 1988, and is serving his fifth term as a Council Member.He was named Mayor for the first time in 1990, and was also selected to Bellflower's highest post in 1995, 2000 and 2005.
"It is an honor for me to have been selected again by my colleagues to serve as Mayor of this great community," said Bomgaars, who will serve as Mayor for a year."I am especially humbled by the fact that I will serve the people of Bellflower as their first five-time Mayor."
Bomgaars stressed that the City Council will continue to focus on issues related to public safety, redevelopment, transportation, infrastructure improvements, housing, economic growth and parks and recreation in hopes of continuing to build Bellflower into a dynamic and diverse community.
"Over the years, we have worked together to make Bellflower a better place to live, work and play," Bomgaars said."We will continue to promote community pride and civic leadership through programs and projects that we plan to bring forward to make Bellflower a vibrant, growing city in Los Angeles County.My colleagues and I welcome the support and prayers of the community over the next year, and we hope that we will continue to earn their respect and trust."
