Randi grew up in Marshalltown, and attended the University of Iowa after high school.
In 1976 she
moved to Dubuque with her
husband Steve, and infant daughter Kate.
Six years later the family, which by this time included three more children - Michelle, Joseph and Lindsay - moved to Ames
when Steve took a job as Director of the Iowa State Center.
A year later their fifth child, Toby, was born and Randi
became a stay-at-home mom for a few years to raise the children.
Eventually Randi returned to school, this time to ISU, to earn a degree in Social Work.
In 1990 Steve took another job, and the family left Ames
for Eden Prairie, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis.
They moved back in early 1994.
In 1996 Randi
and Steve formed their own company to provide management services for arenas, theatres and convention centers.
Today that company - VenuWorks - provides management to more than 40 venues in eleven states across the US.
Today the children are spread out across the country, from Minnesota to eastern Iowa, and from Michigan to New York City.
With two grandsons and a granddaughter on the way, Randi
and Steve keep busy just trying to make the rounds to see everyone.
