Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat REAR ADMIRAL RAMAN PRABHAT TAKES OVER AS ADMIRAL SUPERINTENDENT NAVAL DOCKYARD : Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat, VSM has taken over as the Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam) from Vice Admiral HS Malhi, AVSM, VSM at a formal ceremony held at Naval Dockyard. Rear Admiral Prabhat is an alumnus of Naval Defence Academy, Khadkawasla and was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 Jun 1974. He has held various important appointments in the Indian Navy comprising Operational, Repair yards, Training and Research & Development assignments. Prior taking over the present appointment, Rear Admiral Prabhat was the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command and Director General Naval Project, Visakhapatnam. He is a recipient of Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service. Vice Admiral Malhi now proceeds to Mumbai after 36 years of glorious service, to take over as the Chairman and Managing Director of Mazgon Docks Ltd. During his distinguished career, he held various appointments onboard ships with Steam, Gas Turbines and Diesel propulsions. He has also been the Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji, Warship Production Superintendent - Mumbai, General Manager Refit - Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam and Director of Defence Machinery Design Establishment, Hyderabad. During his nine months tenure at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, he is credited with improving productivity, implementation of numerous welfare measures for the workforce and leveraging Information Technology for various processes. For his distinguished service, has also been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.

Rear Admiral Vijaya Kumar Namballa, NM took over as Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam) from Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat, AVSM, VSM , at a formal ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard today, 19 Mar 10. Prior to succeeding Rear Admiral Prabhat as the Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam), Rear Admiral Namballa served in the Defence Procurement Board, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi as the Technical Manager (Maritime & Systems). Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat served at Visakhapatnam over the last four years as the Director General, Naval Projects (Visakhapatnam), the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command and as the Admiral Superintendant Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam) in the preceding 18 months. The Flag Officer on promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral proceeds to Mumbai as the Director General, Naval Project (Mumbai). Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat was decorated with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal during his tenure at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.
