Ralph Hannon, Ph.D.
Ralph Hannon, Ph.D. is a long time member of the Theosophical Society.
He taught chemistry, physics and mathematics at Kishwaukee College for 31 years.
authored two math textbooks and before retiring spent his
last thirteen years researching and synthesizing high temperature superconductors.
Dr. Hannon along with Dora Kunz, past president of the Theosophical Society, co-edited the Theosophical Research Journal.
Ralph HannonRalph received his B.S. in physics from Eastern Illinois University in 1963.He
wife, Helen, taught two years in the Downers Grove Public School system.Then they moved to DeKalb, where Ralph
returned to school at Northern Illinois University
to work on his
M.S. in physics (67).Helen taught and also worked on her
M.S. in Ed (67).Ralph completed his Ph.D. in chemistry, also at NIU in 1972.

had secured a three year post-doc position after graduation.However, he discovered how wonderful teaching is as a profession and remained at Kishwaukee College for thirty one years.
Over the years, Ralph
has received numerous awards and recognition for his
accomplishments.One of the biggest was in 1989 when he
received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award from the Illinois Community College Trustees Association
has published two mathematics textbooks and has over thirty publications in various journals.In 1987 Ralph
took a sabbatical and did research on high temperature superconductors.He
set up a materials lab and made the first high temperature superconductor on the campus of Northern Illinois University
.Some of his
work was also done at Argonne National Laboratory
.After the sabbatical, he served as a consultant with an appointment in the physics department at NIU.He also worked three years as a consultant with an agriculture testing firm. Recently, Ralph and Helen, who also taught at Kishwaukee College, retired.
They have been spending some of their time traveling, having been to Greece for the second time this past summer.Their older daughter, Cindy, (an EIU
and Texas A&M-Kingsville graduate) lives in Virginia Beach, VA, with her
husband, an F/A - 18 pilot in the Navy, and their three children.Their younger daughter, Katherine, lives in Greenfield, MA with her
husband.They are following the academic route with her
husband working on his
Ph.D.Katherine has her
B.S (chemistry, UIUC), M.S. (biochemistry, Caltech), and Masters of Religious Studies (Harvard).She
is currently teaching at a private school.
