...The principle resource person was Dr. Rakesh Sinha, an eminent Gynaecological Laparoscopic Surgeon from Mumbai, India. Dr. Sinha is world renowned and is the Director of the Bombay Endoscopy Academy and Centre for Minimal Access Surgery ( BEAMS). He
also holds the world record for the largest Laparoscopic Myomectomy (3.4Kg ) which happens to be listed in the Guinness book of World records.
This was followed by the highlight of the morning with a superb presentation by Dr. Rakesh Sinha; he
motivated the audience on Laparoscopic Surgery and safe entry techniques and the use of various energy sources in Laparoscopic Surgery extensively. Dr. Rakesh Sinha
presentation by discussing the role of Laparoscopic Myomectomy and Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. He
also showed us some breathtaking videos.
In the afternoon Dr Rakesh Sinha
demonstrated a Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.

also stressed on the use of the lumbar and suprapubic ports to improve access and view during Surgery.
The second demonstration was a Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy for Infertility.
The take home message from Dr. Rakesh Sinha
was that to train competently in Laparoscopic Surgery it takes upto seven years and is essentially as mind game, where perception and processing take 50 per cent of the effort, strategic planning and execution 40 per cent and psychomotor training, which is unfairly emphasized on accounts for only 10 per cent of the effort.
