Dr Rajneesh Arora, a Product of DAV School, Amritsar has a special record of winning Gold Medals in Matric as well as Higher Secondary of Punjab School Education Board Examination to his credit. Dr. Rajneesh Arora attained B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering in 1979 and Ph.D. in 1989, both from prestigious IIT Delhi. His research work was on "Integrated Energy System" under the guidance of Prof. P.S.Satsangi, an internationally renowned expert on System Engineering. Dr. Rajneesh Arora is currently Vice Chancellor Punjab Technical University Jalandhar. Punjab Technical University is a State University with more than 380 affiliated Colleges providing Technical Education in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy etc. more than 2000 Learning Centres of PTU, Jalandhar are providing professional education through Distance Learning all over India. Total 3.25 Lacs students are appearing for PTU, Jalandhar Examinations every semester. Dr. Rajneesh Arora is member of Board of Governor IIT Delhi, Governing Council National Board of Accreditation, (NBA) New Delhi, Board of Directors, Punjab State Council of Science & Technology (PSCST), Board of Governor National Institute of Technical Teacher Training & Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, Board of Directors, Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Mohali, Board of Directors, Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training(PSBTEIT),Governing Body, Pushpa Gujral Science City (PGSC), Chandigarh and Board of Directors Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC), Mohali. In 1982 he went to the tribal area of Bihar (now Jharkhand ) and started a voluntary organization, Vikas Bharti, Bishunpur ( 125 kms from Ranchi) for application of Science and Technology for the Development of Tribal People. Here he successfully implemented many projects of Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Non -Conventional Energy Sources (MNES), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Council for Advancement of People Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). For Ten long years he along with his family, lived in a tribal village where there was no electricity and the nearest petrol pump was 60 kms away. In 1987, he went to Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherland) on a Dutch Scholarship for advanced research. In 1994, he revived and rejuvenated four-year-sick Sugar Mill in Khalilabad (Distt. Basti, Eastern UP) as Deputy General Manager. Dr. Rajneesh Arora started teaching in Department of Electronics at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar in 1997. He was instrumental in establishing the Department of Placement in 1998 and was appointed first Placement Officer of GNDU. As a result of his tireless efforts, he was successful in bringing many National and International Companies to GNDU Campus for the placement of students. Under his dynamic leadership the Placement Department played key role in getting five Star status for GNDU by National Assessment and Accreditation Council ( NAAC). Later he worked as Director, Placement and took care of Placements for the student of all the three G.N.D.U campuses at Amritsar, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur. He also worked as Dean, Alumni affairs at GNDU. He motivated GNDU Alumni working in all parts of the world to contributes for the development of University. Dr.Arora was nominated as Member of National Standing Committees of Public Cooperation & Rural Technology and Chairman of Regional Committee, North Zone of CAPART (Council for People Action and Rural Technology) by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, New Delhi. He worked as Principal, Amritsar College of Engineering & Technology from March 2008 to December 2008. B.Tech Programmes of this college were accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) during this period. As Vice Chancellor Punjab Technical University, he is leading a Team of Learned Academicians and Capable Administrators for Propelling Punjab to a Prosperous Knowledge Society through Promotion of Quality Technical Education.

PUTIA greets appointment of Rajneesh Arora as Vice Chancellor | Punjab Newspaper PUTIA greets appointment of Rajneesh Arora as Vice Chancellor By Baljinder Walia on December 24th, 2008 Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) has welcomed the appointment of Vice- Chancellor (VC); Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar. PUTIA feels that with the appointment of Dr. Rajneesh Arora as VC, PTU would fulfill the long pending demands of PUTIA and would also ensure smooth functioning of PTU and its affiliated colleges. Arora's appointment has become controversial since his appointment was backed by the RSS, a right wing Hindu body. The papers for his nomination for the post of Vice Chancellor were initially rejected by the state governor, but the government which was acting under the pressure of the BJP insisted on appointing him. Anshu Kataria (Aryans Business School) have expressed pleasure over the academic credentials of Dr. Arora who is an IIT- Delhi product. They expressed hope that Dr. Arora will contribute heavily towards the technical education scenario of Punjab with his experience and expertise. It is to be mentioned here that Dr. Rajneesh Arora attained B. Tech. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, both from prestigious IIT Delhi. Dr. Rajneesh Arora began teaching in Department of Electronics at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 1997. He was instrumental in establishing the Department of Placement in 1998 and was appointed its first Placement Officer. He also worked as a research fellow at IIT, Delhi, for about one decade in the eighties. He has also been member of the board of directors, Punjab State Health System Corporation, and government of Punjab from 2007 onwards.
