Real estate development entity owned and managed by Raj Dhanda
Developer Raj Dhanda of Brookline, Founder and chief executive of Neena's Lighting, has filed a Site Eligibility Application with MassHousing proposing to construct 1299 Beacon, a 14-story mixed-use building located in the heart of Brookline's Coolidge Corner across from the Coolidge Corner MBTA Green Line station. A two-story retail building home to a Neena's Lighting location and owned by Dhanda would be demolished. 1299 Beacon would contain 108 residential units rented to individuals 55 and older ranging from one to two bedrooms and two stories of retail. 86 units would be market-rate, and 22 units would be rented to households earning 50% of area median income (AMI). If MassHousing issues a Project Eligibility Letter for 1299 Beacon, the project will be eligible to submit a Comprehensive Permit Application to Brookline's Zoning Board of Appeals for approval. Dhanda is also proposing to construct 1180 Boylston in Chestnut Hill; the project is under review by Brookline's Zoning Board of Appeals.

It is being developed by Sundance at Harvard Square Holdings LLC owned by Raj and Neena Dhanda of Brookline.
It is located at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave., Mount Auburn St., Putnam Ave. and Trowbridge St. The site was purchased by Raj Dhanda in May 2009 with the idea of renovating the then existing building but it soon became clear that such a unique and rare site deserved a new landmark building. Raj Dhanda, the Developer is owner of several prominent Harvard Sq. properties including Crimson Galeria whose tenants include Staples and a multitude of restaurants offering Asian and American cuisines. Raj Dhanda is also the founder and owner of Neenas Lighting with designer lighting showrooms in Boston, South Boston, Brookline and Wellesley.

Abbey Road Back Bay LLC, an entity formed and managed by Abbey Road Advisors of Westport, Conn., completed the sale of the buildings at 131 Newbury St. and 569 Boylston St. to Raj Dhanda, a developer and investor with a portfolio of local properties.
"The acquisition of these two properties complements my portfolio of urban properties, a collection to be appreciated in terms similar to gem stones," Dhanda said. "Like fine jewels, each property exhibits its own unique qualities and innate value." In addition to owning a portfolio of properties in Brookline, the Back Bay and Cambridge, Dhanda is the founder and owner of Neena's Lighting, a company that now operates four designer lighting showrooms in and around Boston. Among his real estate holdings is an all-glass contemporary building in Cambridge's Harvard Square, now under construction, the first new building in that location since 1992, according to a statement.
