But if crime is going down, Raimond Aulen, owner of The Indigo Room, hasn't noticed.
His night club was burglarized Jan. 21 for the second time in six months.
He reported the first burglary, but not the second because he didn't expect police to find the suspects.
Aulen believes many crimes might simply go unreported for the same reason.
He and other downtown business owners are working with police by meeting once a month to prevent such crimes from happening, while more officers are patrolling the downtown area.

The concerts started back up the week of Christmas, says Indigo owner Raimond Aulen. But there wasn't much of an audience for that show. Now Aulen is trying to get the word out that Friday Night Live is back.
"People think it's over, and they're not showing up," Aulen says. "It's still happening."
The reggae band Sister Sanjah performs from 6-9 p.m. Friday. Aulen plans to continue the tradition of bringing in local bands of all kinds, including blues, jazz, rock, folk and traditional rockabilly (that's his own band, Memphis 56).
Aulen also has a bigger budget, and that means he might be able to attract bigger local and regional acts.

Blue Chip Award – business as usual is often not : Southwest Florida Business Today, 1 Jan 2008 [cached]

This year's Blue Chip Award winner was Raimond Aulen, owner of The Indigo Room in Fort Myers. Unable to find a place to rent and unable to qualify for a bank loan, he took out a private loan, bought a building with numerous code violations and set about fixing the place himself. He survived stops and starts in downtown's construction efforts, even ordering the bricks himself to complete the facelift of Patio de Leon. Other impediments included the utilities and streetscape project, which obstructed the entrance to his establishment. By nurturing his regular customers, getting involved with community projects, being a full-time presence at the bar and living modestly, he's managed to tough out the hard times and remains in business.
