The Honorable Rafael Arreola
has a long history of assisting others and of making an effort to improve the communities in which he
Born and raised by his
mother and grandmother in a small village in Mexico, he
was brought to live in the barrio on the east side of Riverside, CA at age 13.
teen years in the barrio, Judge Arreola
organized groups to clean up yards, paint and repair dilapidated houses, and make other improvements to the neighborhood.
saw firsthand the need for assistance.
Now, as a community service, he develops and manages low-income housing projects for seniors, the disabled and the homeless.
After high school, Judge Arreola received two scholarships that inspired him to go to college and become an engineer.
He first worked as an engineering aide, then a land surveyor, then assistant civil engineer.
Eventually, he became an attorney, and finally, a judge.
Judge Arreola established the Arreola/CBSPM Scholarship to assist deserving students.
