Executive Chef - Jackson's Bistro, Bar & Sushi Inventively fusing Mediterranean flavors from Morocco, Greece, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Algeria & Turkey with traditional American favorites has proved to be quite the charm for Tampa Bay's Executive Chef Rachid El Yamani of Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi. The Moroccan born culinary artist and Executive Chef for Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi is already winning over critics with his creative cooking style, decadent desserts and flawless presentations. Cooking has always been Rachid's passion. Leaving home at a young age, Rachid traveled Europe before settling in Paris to attend the ICA-Institute Central of Architecture and had the good fortune to learn the ropes of restaurant management and the science of culinary art under the tutelage of France's busiest café chefs. Upon turning 21, Rachid migrated to the U.S. with the dream of becoming a professional soccer player. After injuring his leg at the University of North Carolina, he returned to his love of cooking and quickly landed the role of Sous Chef at Bistro 100 in North Carolina. In 1998, Rachid left Bistro 100 to become Executive Chef for Legal Seafoods of Boston, MA and landed in Florida at Walt Disney World Resort's Fulton Crab House. His expertise took him to Las Vegas to the Grand Luxe Café and then returned to Florida to work with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Rachid credits his family and homeland of Morocco as his culinary inspirations. He fondly recalls helping his mother and grandmother prepare meals of savory cous-cous, herbed lamb, and tangine chicken for his six brothers and sisters. Rachid brings a wealth of culinary expertise to Jackson's Bistro Bar and Sushi on Harbour Island as Executive Chef. He enjoys knowing that every day when he comes into Jackson's, he is surrounded by people who have the passion to be great. This is what gives him his inspirations to aspire to being the best Chef in Tampa Bay.
