About Rachel | Rachel Factor | biography
Mrs. Rachel Factor is the energy and inspiration behind HaMachol Shel Bnos Miriam and has made a stunning impact on Jewish women across the world. Mrs. Factor benefits from the support and guidance of renowned Torah personalities and educators HaRav Chiam Pinchas Scheinberg Shlita, HaRav Binyomin Moskovits Shlita, HaRav Dovid Morgenstern Shlita, HaRav Yitzchok Berkowitz Shlita, Rebbitzen Tziporah Heller and Rebbitzen Sima Spetner. Making a Difference Recognizing her talent and ability to make a difference, Mrs. Factor has combined her Torah knowledge and hashkafah with her expertise and experience as a professional dancer and former Broadway performer. She has developed and implemented specialized programming to help Jewish women of all ages and backgrounds develop and deepen their connection with Hashem. Throughout the year Mrs. Factor balance her duties as mother and wife with her worldwide speaking engagements and a wide range of classes for both the Anglo and Israeli communities in Eretz Yisroel. Mrs. Factor's Dance and Touring Summer Program exemplifies both her goals and her educational insight. Mrs Factor regularly draws upon her secular experiences, to help strengthen the impact and reality of her message, subsequently affecting the girls in a profound way. All camp participants attest to experiencing a summer of change, a summer in which their relationship with Torah has reached a new level. The Shows Mrs. Factor attained international recognition with her acclaimed one-woman show entitled "J.A.P." Mrs Factor chronicles her journey from Hawaii, where she was born, to Los Angeles and then New York as a singer, dancer and actress and finally to her home in Yerushalayim. Continuing the story of J.A.P, Mrs Factor wrote and produced "Not Even Normal" and has since launched "Becoming Rich", a production of song dance and story that explores her struggle with Emunah and Bitachon. Over thirty thousand women worldwide, both religious and non-religious, have attended Mrs Factor's performances which continue to draw large and excited crowds. Midreshes Shmuel In September 2010, under the guidance of HaRav Binyomin Moskovits Shlita, Mrs Factor will be opening Midreshes Shmuel, a unique seminary program. Designed to hone in on each girl's personality, individual qualities and talents, Midreshes Shmuel has developed a comprehensive limudei kodesh curriculum complemented by an innovative performing arts program. Hawaii to Yerushalayim Mrs. Factor was born in 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, as Christine Frances Masaye Horii. During junior high school Mrs Factor discovered dance as a form of creative expression and quickly became deeply ingrained in the community's theatrical productions, having decided on a career in the performing arts. After high school, she moved to Los Angeles and landed work as a dancer in music videos, film and television. She then moved to New York to appear in the Broadway productions "Shogun, the Musical", "Miss Saigon" and Radio City Music Hall as a World Famous Rockette. Mrs. Factor also starred in Shakespeare's "Othello", "The Tempest" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Her extensive experience as a professional performer for over twenty years has included eight years on Broadway and over forty television and print commercial clients. At age twenty nine Mrs. Factor met her husband to be, and, after two and a half years and a Conservative conversion to Judaism, the couple married. After the birth of their son, Ariel, and exposure to Orthodox Judaism, Mrs. Factor and Ariel underwent an Orthodox conversion. Mrs. Factor simply opens her heart. She puts her listeners and students in touch with their neshamah; she kindles sparks of life, igniting a passion and love for Torah. Indeed, Mrs. Factor's own selfless dedication to the Will of Hashem serves as a source of chizuk and emunah to all those who have the opportunity to know her.
