Quentin is Head of our Charities Department and has over 20 years experience of acting for and working with charities. He combines his role with us with the role as Chief Executive of a national grant making charity. He thus is able to offer advice and support based upon his current first had knowledge of the issues that charities, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations face daily, both large and small. In addition to legal advice, Quentin is also able to support clients with the issues they face concerning the governance and management of their organisations.
Quentin is an enthusiastic promoter and supporter of the not-for-profit sector and has held a number of voluntary and church positions over the years. He is currently a trustee of Dorothy House Hospice Care, on the Advisory Body of the Almshouse Association and is a member of the South West Regional Advisory Group of ACEVO. He combines this with writing and speaking at seminars and to organisations and groups around the country.

Quentin has worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 20 years. After qualifying as a solicitor in 1984, he practiced in London and Bristol before moving to Bath where latterly he specialised in charity law. In 1992 he was appointed as a Chief Executive of an almshouse, a position he held until 2007.
Quentin combines his work with CharityEminence (www.charityeminence.com) as a trainer and consultant to not-for-profit organisations, their Boards and their staff, with his role as Chief Executive of a national grant making charity, and supporting a law firm in the development of their charity law practice.
Since the early 1990s, he has lead seminars and facilitated training, principally on governance and management issues, but also on legal issues affecting charities. He has also written a number of articles and is a contributing author to the leading textbook for trustees on the management of almshouses. In addition, he supports, mentors and coaches Chief Executives and Trustees.
He is currently on the board of The George Müller Charitable Trust. Before that he recently served on the Board of a hospice. He currently also sits on the Advisory Body of the Almshouse Association, having previously been a director and member of their Executive Committee and was a member of the South West Regional Advisory Group of ACEVO.
