Coordinating WMS May Day are â€˜Ike Hawaiâ€™i Resource Teacher Pua Case, Kumu Keala Kahuanui and Kumu Kealiâ€™i Bertelmann. Â Â
For WMSâ€™ annual May Day celebration, historic Thelma Parker Gym is lavishly decorated with greenery, feather kahili and a traditional Hawaiian quilt depicting the Royal Coat of Arms and Hawaiian Flag.Â Donations of greenery are needed and may be brought to the gym on Wed., May 7, between 3-6 p.m. or at 9 a.m., Thursday May 8.Â Kokua with decorating also is welcome from 9-3 on Thursday.Â

The project began with a school grant and the work of then social studies teacher Pua Case, art teacher Sue Facet language arts teacher Liz Natzo and artist Gordon Motta, who created an interdisciplinary unit to teach students the attributes that comprise a good leader, role model or hero.
