As per the request made by Mr.Prasad Galhena, Chairman & CEO of NGJA, Mr. Ahsan Refai, Managing Director of M/s Zam Gems (Pvt) Ltd, a leading Jewellery Manufacturer and Exporter in Sri Lanka has offered a jewellery piece - Cat's Eye Moonstone Pendent with Ruby Cluster made in 18k yellow gold for the raffle draw to be held at the Sri Lanka Pavilion at the ITB 2013 - Travel and Tourism Fair in Germany.
Mr. Prasad Galhena, Chairman / C.E.O. of the National Gem & Jewellery Authority (NGJA) stated that the NGJA with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Consulate in Shanghai has organized the ' Sri Lanka Pavilion' at the China International Gold, Jewellery & Gem Fair for its seventh consecutive year at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

considers facilitation of Sri Lankan Gem and Jewellery Trading Community for participation in international Trade Fairs through out the world as its major promotional activity.
Due to the importance of Chinese market NGJA has scheduled to organize Sri Lanka Pavilion in another leading international gem and jewellery exhibition in China - Beijing during the month of December.

added that the National Gem
and Jewellery Authority have identified the market requirements and created a strong platform for fine quality gems and gem studded jewellery of Sri Lanka in China.
Mr. Prasad Galhena, Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority says that the Authority is tasked with promoting, developing and regulating gem and jewellery industry in terms of section 14 of the Gem and Jewellery Authority Act No. 50 of 1993.
JEWELS Sri Lanka 2012 will boost the local and foreign demand in these sectors under the guidance of His Excellency Mahinda Rajapakse
and the Minister of Environment.
The Chairman further states that he
will work towards achieving these objectives by holding exhibitions and trade fairs locally and overseas and by providing incentives for it.
Mr. Prasad Galhena, Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, further stated that 2011 was the golden year of gem and jewellery exports and the first half of this year has seen exports worth 297 million US Dollars, achieving an increase of 35% over 2011.
As such, Mr. Galhena
predicts that Sri Lanka's gem and jewellery exports will see a record growth with year 2016 hitting the 1000 million US dollar mark in annual exports.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion consisted of Thirty Four Sri Lankan Gem and Jewllery Trading Companies.
According to Mr.Galhena, the Sri Lanka Pavilion was ceremonially opened on 10th May 2012 by His Excellency Mr. Ranjith Uyangoda, the Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Beijing.

Mr.Galhena further stated that, China and Sri Lanka enjoy a strong and friendly relationship based on cultural and traditional values for years.
This relationship has evolved in to a significant economic and commercial partnership; under the guidance of our President, His Excellency Mahinda Rajapakse
, who has introduced new policy initiatives and meaningful fiscal measures which have largely contributed to the healthy growth of the gem and jewellery industry in Sri Lanka.
