Pierre-Yves Panis is Design & User Experience Vice-President for internet, television, mobile and digital services provider Orange, which he joined in November 2012. He previously was Design Vice President and Art Director for Legrand, the world's leading manufacturer of electrical wiring devices and electrical systems. Prior to joining Legrand in 2003, Pierre-Yves was Principal Designer at Moen, USA's leading faucet, kitchen and bathroom accessories manufacturer.

Mr. Pierre-Yves Panis, France, board member Mr. Panis is currently Design and User Experience Senior Vice-President for Orange. Orange is one of the world's largest global providers for mobile pones, landlines, Internet, mobile Internet and IP television services with 230 million customers. Under the brand Orange Business Services, the company is established as one of the world leaders in providing telecommunication services to multinational companies. At Orange, Pierre-Yves leads a multi-disciplinary design team of 50 professionals based in Paris, London, Amman and Abidjan, which defines the group's products and services design and user experience. Pierre-Yves Panis is an active member of design and design management promoting agencies, such as Design Management Institute (DMI) and has participated in two Icsid Interdesign workshops in South Africa, 1999 Water and 2005 Rural Transport. He holds a Master of Industrial Design from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle (Les Ateliers), France.

His role is to help design even more intutitive and simple digital services and products which are eco-responsible and accessible to all, in an effort to enrich their daily lives. Before joining Orange, Panis was the design and artistic director at electrical and IT installation system company Legrand, principal designer at North America's leading plumbing fittings company, Moen, and spent eight years in Zimbabwe where he ran the Design Co Operation NGO working with artisans.
Pierre-Yves Panis, head of design for Philips Lighting in the Netherlands, is in New Zealand to judge product design in the Designers Institute of New Zealand awards.
And not surprisingly, he believes we have hardly touched the surface when it comes to lighting technology. "There are 60 billion lights installed in the world, and this provides endless possibilities," he says.
