On March 7th Phyllis Lyssa Rotella-Soderberg joined the Home as the Vice President of Health Services.Lyssa comes to the Jewish Home with many years of executive and administrative experience in both hospital and Long Term Care facilities.She has an MBA in Health Care Administration and a BS in Nursing.Among the new VP's responsibilities are working with the Medical Director and Medical staff , Nursing , Admissions/Social Services , Health Information , Rehabilitation and Clinic services.One of her first jobs will be to identify and hire a new Director of Patient Care Services/DON.We hope you will welcome Lyssa to the Home should you have an opportunity to meet her.Nursing and Health Care Worker ShortageDuring the recent snowstorms JHE was fortunate to have the support and cooperation of staff ensuring no matter how bad the storm , someone would be here to care for our Residents.Over 30 staff members , not scheduled to work , stayed overnight to see that there was sufficient staffing in the morning to provide care.This included not only nursing but also dietary and other disciplines as well.Many worked double shifts in this time of nursing shortage and then went home to rest and came back to work a double again.
