Phil Krym: Born in Canada, but raised in Miami, Phil's first introduction to the many facets of wood came from his father Walter who was an "old world" master craftsman.Phil's first recognition as a wood craftsman came from the University of Miami, who gave him an Industrial Arts award for a16' runabout boat he designed and built in his 9th grade woodshop class.Since then he has worked extensively with wood from waterskis to house building. He started directing his attention to the art of turning in 2000.The simple elegance of his designs are intended to allow the viewer to relish the natural beauty of the wood itself. Each piece is meticulously shaped, sanded and finishes are applied to enhance the artistic beauty of the wood, most of which are tropical woods found in South Florida. His work is earning him a growing number of awards for his fine craftsmanship and attention to detail.Phil's handcrafted wood pieces can be found in many collections in the United States, Canada and Europe.Phil's Wood Turning."About Each Artist" is continued on the next page.
