Philip Hodgin, Architect and Managing Principal of RDG IAPhilip A. Hodgin, AIA is an Architect, a Managing Principal with RDG IA (Iowa) in greater Des Moines and has been CEO/President of RDG Planning & Design's corporate board since 1998.RDG is a 150-person design organization serving a broad range of clients nationwide with offices in Des Moines & Ames, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska and Fort Myers, FL.
Phil earned his Bachelor of Science in 1981 and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University in 1982.
Strategic Thinking and Ideation are two of Phil's top skill attributes.
He has used those skills as a founding board member for many community efforts including the West Des Moines Leadership Academy, "the Number One Question: Is it Good for the Kids?, Winefest, ACE Mentoring, West Des Moines Community Enrichment Foundation, the Iowa Architectural Foundation and the Greater Des Moines' Transitional Leadership Program.
Phil has chaired boards such as AIA Iowa, the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, the Civic Music Association of Greater Des Moines and the ISU Architectural Advisory Council.He has been an adjunct instructor of design at Iowa State University (Architecture) and Drake University (Interior Design).He is proud to have helped establish local support and provide design assistance for Child Voice International on a mission to restore the lives of child victims of the LRA war in northern Uganda.
As current Co-Chair of the Greater Des Moines Capital Crossroads Social Capital Co-Chair, Phil is very excited to see the emerging work make positive improvements in the areas he is focused on in our community: Civility, Diversity and Leadership Development.
