Assistant Coach- 3rd Season One of the most decorated athletes in Goshen College history, Petrana Petkova, returns to the Maple Leafs for her second season on the coaching staff in 2013. In cross country, Petkova was a three-time All Mid-Central College Conference performer, three-time All NAIA District 21 and three-time NAIA All American. She holds eight of the 10 fastest 5k times in program history, including the all-time best mark of 18:06. In track, Petkova earned eight NAIA All American honors, while winning the 2007 Indoor 5K and 2007 Outdoor 10K National Championships. She holds Goshen College program records in the 3k, 5k, and 10k outdoors and 1,500, Mile, 3,000, and 5,000 meters indoors.

Petrana Petkova - Assistant Coach - 1st Season Petrana Petkova enters her first year as an assistant coach at Union College. This will be her first overseeing the men's and women's cross country/track and field programs. Petrana graduate from Goshen College in 2007 with bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sports management. Petkova also worked at Lafayette Sports Centre in Lafayette, Indiana as a Sports Performance Trainer. During that year Petkova was working individual with high profile athletes in different sports conducting their weightlifting programs. During her running career at Goshen College, Petkova earned two individual NAIA national titles and 14 NAIA All-American honors, the most in school history. She won back-to-back titles in the indoor 5000 and outdoor 10000 meters in 2007. In cross country, Petkova was a four year All-American at the NAIA national meet. Petkova sits atop the Goshen College cross country chart with the fastest 5K time in school history. She also holds records in the 1500, the mile, 3000 and 5000 indoors, as well as the 3000, 5000 and 10000 outdoors. A native of Razlog, Bulgaria, Petkova represented her country in the Balkan Games, European Cup and Mountain run European Cup. From 1995-2003 Petkova was the member of Bulgarian Cross Country National Team. She twice won the National Cross-Country title and was a three-time runner-up. Petkova is national 5000m indoor record holder. She also won two National triathlon championships and represented the country in the European triathlon cup in 1997. Petkova and her daughter Kristina live in Bourbonville, Ky. Petrana's husband works as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the Premier Soccer league in Russia. In her free time, Petkova enjoys running, reading and spending time with her daughter.

Assistant Coach Petrana Petkova Arguably the greatest cross country athlete to ever don a Goshen College uniform — and certainly the most decorated — 2007 Goshen College graduate Petrana Petkova returns to the program as an assistant coach for the 2007 season. A four-time NAIA All-American in cross country and two-time national champion in track and field, Petkova's total 14 All-American honors are by far the most in Goshen College history in any sport.Petkova won the 2007 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship in the 5,000-meter race and the 2007 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championhip 10,000-meter event as a senior, becoming only the third athlete in school history to capture multiple national titles. In cross country, Petkova was a two-time Mid-Central Conference Champion, Goshen's only two-time conference champ, male or female.Petkova won the 2004 NAIA Region VIII Championship, only the second Goshen athlete to ever achieve that status (the other was 2002 graduate Heidi Saunders)."Obviously, we are extremely fortunate to have Petrana help with our team this year," said Doug Yoder, Goshen head coach.Petkova will focus primarily on the women's team's efforts, but will also serve as an assistant coach for the men's side.Petkova is married and resides in Goshen.
