"It's very, very unusual -- there are no unsatisfactory ratings," said Board of Education member Peter Sherr. "I've just never seen anything like that.

Sherr said his questions about the ratings focus on long-term strategy, not doubt about the general quality of the district's teaching staff.
"I think we have very good teachers; we have some of the best teachers by and large," he said. "I'm asking the question of are we continuously raising our standards so that we are driving towards our goal of having one of the highest performing districts in the nation."
The second-term board member has asked similar questions of administrators in recent weeks, but that discussion has not yet yielded definitive conclusions.
