Peter Lovie
Peter Lovie, Senior Advisor Floating Systems, advises multiple operator and contractor clients in the offshore business on technical, business development and commercial assignments.
The reorganization of Devon Energy Corporation in 2H 2009 included disbanding the Project Support Office where Peter Lovie worked on the planning and project management of deepwater projects. When Devon ultimately exited the offshore business altogether, Peter Lovie was laid off - along with hundreds of others - and started this consulting practice, putting to work what he learned over his years at Devon and before, now for a number of clients.

Peter Lovie Senior Advisor, Floating Systems PETER M LOVIE PE, LLC
Peter Lovie's 47 year career in offshore, all in Houston, started in offshore drilling, then a stint in subsea production with the last 19 years in the floating production business: FPSOs and shuttle tankers with emphasis on US Gulf of Mexico, first as BDM for North America for Bluewater (FPSO contractor), then as VP with American Shuttle Tankers (now Teekay). Next he crossed the aisle to become an employee of an operating oil company (Devon Energy) that had a large portfolio of operated field developments in deepwater GoM and a non operated prospect at Cascade (50:50 with Petrobras). At Devon the prior experience came together, where he saw a potential in 2007 to reduce FPSO rates by in a bid process, a move that led to the current FPSO choice at Cascade/Chinook. He adapted North Sea best practices to apply to GoM metocean, tanker sizes and business conditions as Devon's policy. After Devon exited offshore altogether in 2H2009, Peter served as an independent "Senior Advisor Floating Systems" on technical, marketing and commercial matters. Recent pro bono work includes leadership roles in SPE, Rice Global E&C Forum (industry co chair) and DeepStar (co chair of Contributors). He is author of 5 patents, is frequently published in the industry and a speaker at conferences, quoted in Upstream. Education was at the University of Glasgow and then the University of Virginia where he was a Fulbright Scholar and earned his Master of Applied Mechanics degree.
