After spending seven years at Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corp. (BERC), Peter moved to Erie County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA) in February 2003 as the Director of Urban Development. At the time, his position change was the initial step in a local development agency consolidation and collaboration. At BERC, Peter was the Senior Vice President in charge of the Special Projects, Real Estate and Human Resources. Prior to BERC, Peter had an extensive career in retailing; specializing in management, operations and leasing. Since 2006, Peter has been the President of BUDC, which maintains a strong affiliation with the Mayor's Office of Strategic Planning and the ECIDA.
Over the last decade, Peter has helped spearhead one of the largest brownfield reclamation projects in New York State, Buffalo Lakeside Commerce Park (BLCP) at the Union Ship Canal site, in the City of Buffalo. Peter's extensive project portfolio includes Phases I thru IV of road and infrastructure construction at BLCP, Ship Canal Commons public park at BLCP, the CertainTeed, Cobey and Sonwil facilities at BLCP, the William Gaiter Business Center, the Rural Metro headquarters facility on Gaiter Parkway, the SafeTec headquarters facility on Gaiter Parkway, the Market Arcade Apartments / Irish Classical Theatre, two inner-city TOPS Supermarkets, and the Hydro-Air headquarters facility at RiverBend in South Buffalo.
Most recently, BUDC's RiverBend site was chosen by New York State to become the home of the Buffalo High-Tech Manufacturing Innovation Hub. This project is a $225 million State investment leveraging $1.5 billion in private investment.
In collaboration with the City of Buffalo and the Mayor's Office of Strategic Planning, Peter is currently working on the marketing of BLCP, implementation of the RiverBend Master Plan, the South Buffalo and Tonawanda Street Corridor Brownfield Opportunity Areas, various Buffalo Building Reuse Project initiatives, and various National Grid Economic Development Program Grants. As a Corporate Officer of BUDC, he also has responsibility for various administrative functions, reporting directly to the Board of Directors and the Board Chair (Hon. Byron W. Brown - Mayor).
Peter and his wife (of 33 years) Sandy are life-long North Buffalo residents. They are the proud grandparents of Adelaide & Jesse. Their three children have all graduated from City Honors School and Canisius College, and continue to reside in WNY. Peter was a founding member and Past President of the City Honors Foundation. Peter also serves on the Board of Directors of the Bennett High School Sports Hall of Fame. He is a past winner of Business First's Forty Under 40 Award and a member of the Leadership Buffalo Class of 1995.
