Mr. Barney, who comes from a long line of Southcoast natives, grew up in the New Bedford area and has been active in his community for many years. Mr. Barney currently serves as the President of the historical Wamsutta Club in New Bedford. Additionally, Mr. Barney is a member of the National Narrow Gauge Railroad Hall of Fame and is an expert model builder and about railroad history.
