Dr. Peter Alvino is a senior consultant with PROACT SEARCH, INC. and brings over 30 years experience in public school education (K-12.) He is currently the Superintendent of Schools at the Northpointe Leadership Academy, a private non-profit K-6 school in Fresno, CA. He was the Superintendent of the Zion-Benton Township High School District in Illinois; previously serving as Superintendent of the Whitnall Public Schools in suburban Milwaukee (WI.) He began his teaching career as a math instructor and counselor in West Chicago (IL) High School, then gaining large urban school experience as a specialist in the Milwaukee (WI) Public Schools, as an associate high school principal in Wauwatosa (WI,) as a directing principal at Washington Park High in Racine (WI) before becoming Associate Superintendent in the Waukegan (IL) School District. He taught graduate level courses at National-Louis University. He brings strong leadership and planning skills, with expertise in bilingual education, as well as in assessments, accountability, collaboration-building and parental involvement. With PROACT SEARCH, INC. he is involved in marketing and business development and in all aspects of the search process, focusing on stakeholder engagement, recruiting and screening activities. PETER ALVINO, Ed.D.
Peter Alvino is a Senior Associate with Proact Search, INC., and most recently was the Superintendent of the Zion-Benton Township High School District #126 (IL). Prior to this position, he served as Superintendent of the Whitnall Public Schools; a suburban Milwaukee district in Greenfield (WI) with 2600 K-12 students. With over twenty eight (28) years of experience in education, Dr. Alvino began his teaching career as a math instructor and counselor at West Chicago (IL) High School, where he also served as the district's director of the elementary summer school program for seven years. For a period of five years, he was a faculty member and Director of the Micro-Computer Laboratory for the Illinois State University Laboratory Schools, where he wrote and received grants to develop Title VII Bilingual and Migrant Worker Programs (K-12.) He gained additional experience over the next few years as a specialist in a large urban school setting with the Milwaukee Public Schools, as an Associate Principal at West High School in the Wauwatosa (WI) School District, as Directing Principal at Washington Park High School in the Racine (WI) Public Schools, before becoming the Associate Superintendent in the Waukegan (IL) School District #60; a position held for four years before assuming his first superintendency. Throughout his career, Dr. Alvino has been on the "cutting edge" of reform; successfully planning and securing passage of a multi-million dollar local bond issue with strong community support, infusing technology across the curriculum through a comprehensive plan and wiring a district to the Internet in record time, successfully negotiating collective bargaining agreements, instituting a Teachers Academy to provide on-site continuing education credit courses taught by local university professors, establishing a district educational foundation, increasing test scores and the graduation rate of seniors going on to four-year higher learning institutions. He has authored numerous papers and articles and is the recipient of many professional recognitions and awards. He serves as an adjunct for National-Louis University, teaching courses such as: Graduate Statistics, School Law, Staff Development and Teacher Evaluation. Dr. Alvino brings strong leadership and planning skills, with expertise in bilingual education, as well as in assessments, accountability, collaboration-building and parental involvement. With Proact Search, he is involved in marketing and business development and in all aspects of the search process, focusing on stakeholder engagement, recruiting and screening activities. He received his Ed.D. in District Administration from Northern Illinois University, a C.A.S. in Administration and a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the same university. He earned a B.A. degree in Secondary Mathematics at Wheaton College in Illinois.
