-- Pete Reardon
knew that one way or another he
was going to be part of a wrestling program in North Idaho.
just wasn't sure which program that would be.
The 32-year-old Reardon, who previously wrestled and coached at North Idaho College and most recently was head coach at Kentlake High School in Kent, Wash., was named head coach at Post Falls High earlier this week.
was one of four candidates for the job.
Post Falls athletic director Craig Christensen also considered former West Valley wrestler and ex-University of Great Falls assistant coach Luke Roberts and current Post Falls assistant coaches Keith Larson and Mike Booth -- who will both remain on staff as assistant coaches for Reardon.
"(Pete) is going to be a real good fit," Christensen said.
Reardon, a social studies teacher who has yet to find a teaching job in the area, replaces Dennis Amende, who retired last year after being the head coach at Post Falls for 18 years.
"It's great to get back over to this area," Reardon
"The experience I picked up from Kentlake
was great but (my wife and I) really like the community over here."
Originally from Deming, Wash., Reardon
wrestled for North Idaho from 1995-98 and was part of the Cardinals' '98 national championship team.
He also served as an assistant from 2000-04.
