Peggy joined the Flagler Hospital team in 1961 as a purchasing agent.Mrs. Young was once described as "tungsten steel wrapped in marsh-mallow."She was determined to do whatever was best for the hospital, and for people in general.She was deeply committed to anything in which she became involved, and she tried to help people whenever possible.Ralph also served as a member of the Flagler Hospital team, so he was able to see the impact Peggy made firsthand.
Both Ralph and Peggy Young retired from the hospital on the same day, in June of 1988.Retirement was not the end of their service to Flagler Hospital, however.The Youngs continued to work in the hospital as members of the Auxiliary, a volunteer organization that serves the hospital in a wide variety of areas.
In 1994, Peggy Young was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
