News of the Wild - Winter 2001, 1 Jan 2001 [cached]
Pauline Sato, program director of the Oahu chapter of The Nature Conservancy, had been watching the development of Chicago Wilderness for several years and believed it would be a good conservation strategy on the island of Oahu. That island has both a dense human population and critically important biodiversity to conserve. Sato brought in Debby Moskovits, director of environmental and conservation programs for the Field Museum, and Laurel Ross, area director for The Nature Conservancy of Illinois, for the 1999 Hawaii Conservation Conference to describe Chicago Wilderness efforts.
