Pauline Hagino, Rhythm-Tap
Pauline Hagino, former founding member of the California-based dance company, Rhapsody in Taps, is now teaching an Intermediate level rhythm-tap class every Tuesday night from 6:30-7:45 at the Ballet Hawai'i studio located on the second level of the old Dole Cannery building.
25 year involvement with Rhapsody
in Taps afforded her
the experience of performing to a wide gamut of musical styles from standard swing tunes to Balinese Gamelan compositions.
teaching style reflects her
interest in developing musicality and broadening the format of rhythm tap to include other elements that may not be associated with it.
Graduating from UH Manoa with a B Ed degree, she has taught dance at Orange Coast College, Irvine Valley College, Mira Costa College, and Mount San Antonio College.
She has also certified in Pilates and Gyrokinesis ® and has taught both methods through the dance curriculum at Orange Coast College where she has been teaching for the past 30 years.
takashi koshi has been the piano accompanist for Ballet Hawaii
Before that he
was the music accompanist for The Cloudgate Dance Theater of Taiwan
He is originally from Denver, Colorado and has a Music Education Degree from Oberlin Conservatory and Master's Degree in Music Performance in bassoon from the University of Northern Colorado.
has received numerous commissions for his
music compositions, and his
one-hour ballet " Urashima Taro " was performed in 2005 as the Spring Recital of Ballet Hawaii
