Pauline Aarts Pauline Aarts (PhD) is head of the Unit Paediatric Rehabilitation of the Sint Maartenskliniek Nijmegen in the Netherlands. She is also the project leader of the national implementation of the Pirate concept. Pauline graduated as occupational therapist (BSc OT) at the Hoge School Zuyd in Hoensbroek (1981). In 1990 she graduated as teacher in Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT). In 2003 she graduated (cum laude) as Master of Science in Allied Health Care at the Radboud University Nijmegen. She started her PhD project in 2006, during which she started the study of the effectiveness of modified Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (mCIMT) combined with Bimanual Training (BiT) in the Pirate group. She performed this research at the Maartenskliniek and obtained her PhD in 2010 at the faculty of medical sciences at the Radboud University. She now leads the Unit Paediatric Rehabilitation of the Sint Maartenskliniek and is involved with scientific research in the research program diagnostics and interventions for the purpose of improving arm/hand performance of patients (children and adults) with Central Neurological Diseases.
