Librarian Paula Altschul
Paula Altschul began her work as Temple Emanuel's librarian on February 28, 2001. In October of 2002, she began the process of putting together the new library that was built as part of the Temple's addition. The Pollon Family Library was opened in January 2003.
Since then Paula has implemented new programs such as the first nursery school monthly holiday storytime for the four and five year old students and regular storytime periods with the Kindergarten, first, and second graders. She has continued the tradition of the Parent Connection Program for the first grade students, adding many new books and expanded prizes.
As a member and officer of the former WRJ Sisterhood, Paula and Temple member, Henrietta Zionts (now of blessed memory) came up with the idea of Poetry and Tea.

Paula is an active member of the Beit ha'Midrash team (Adult Ed), which has resulted in successful programs for our adult community, such as Monday Movies and Foreign Food and Film evenings.
In July 2012, Paula was honored to receive the Outstanding Congregational Librarian Award from the Church and Synagogue Library Association (CSLA) at their annual conference. She currently serves as Secretary of the Executive Board of the Southwest Pennsylvania Chapter of CSLA. She is also a member of the Association of Jewish Libraries and has attended several of their conferences.
Paula loves the multi-generational aspect of her job and all the other facets of her work, including storytelling, researching, cataloguing and shelving books.
