Paul Chinana, former pueblo governor and chairman of the Jemez Gaming Enterprise Board, said the meaning of the bill's language isn't entirely clear, but the pueblo does have historical ties to the area.
"I'd like to look at it closer," he
said."We need to know what it really means.If it comes to a point that we need to prove we have historical ties," we could refer to our oral history, he
said that history isn't revealed lightly, and he'd need approval from the tribe's religious council to do so.
