About Paul Block
Paul R. Block is president and CEO of Merisant Company.
He leads the global business, its 550 employees, four dedicated manufacturing facilities on three continents and operations in more than 80 countries.
He joined Merisant in September 2004 as president and chief operating officer and became CEO two months later.
In 2005, he was named board chairman and remained in that position until 2010 when the company emerged from a successful balance-sheet restructuring and changed ownership.
Mr. Block led a debt-reduction process that shrank the company's debt to $142 million from $567 million and its interest expense to $11 million from $36 million.
In June 2010, he
received the prestigious Atlas Turnaround Corporate Executive of the Year Award for his
leadership in the successful restructuring and turnaround of Merisant Company
team achieved global leadership as an Aspartame tabletop sugar substitute.
They also were the first to receive a U.S. Food & Drug Administration "no objection" letter for a new all-natural sugar substitute, Reb A, and to create a co-brand ownership with PepsiCo
around the Pure Via brand all-natural sweetener.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., Mr. Block graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
