Since joining Mercury, Mr. Bauer led the legislativebattle to defeat a bill to ban plastic bags, helped secure over $100 million in state and federal funds for the Colton Crossing project and was instrumental in obtaining $400 million of ARRA stimulus dollars for a major high speed rail project. In addition, Mr. Bauer was the point person in the legislature for California First's $2.3 billion acquisition of 11 State Properties. This was the State's largest real estate transaction ever. Prior to joining Mercury, he directed the Legislative Advocacy practice group representing Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP's water, transportation, private sector and local government clients before the legislature and various government entities. Upon graduation from the University of California San Diego in 1993 Mr. Bauer began his career representing the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
