...Paul Andry is the founder and past President of the Bayou Dulcimer Club in Mandeville, Louisiana and founder of the Mile High Dulcimer Stompers in the Highlands / Cashiers area of North Carolina.
Louisiana's premier mountain dulcimer player is known for his
lyrical touch with contemporary music from New Orleans Mardi Gras to ragtime and traditional American folk music.An excellent arranger of music for the dulcimer, Paul
has taught classes at many dulcimer events and has competed successfully in several dulcimer playing contests, including the Texas State Dulcimer Championship, which he
won in 1994.Paul's touch is with interpretation of a diversity of styles of music for the dulcimer from blues to gay '90's favorites to contemporary pieces.He
will share his
knowledge at workshops, jam sessions and we will showcase Louisiana talent as he
performs at the Saturday noon concert.As an organizer, Paul is the founder of the Bayou Dulcimer Club and was one of the inspiring forces in the club's joyous Mardi Gras Dulcimer Festival.
The club hosted this popular festival for 10 years and it drew up to 250 participants.Paul
has taught at festivals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas, and also teaches private lessons.For the past eleven years Paul has conducted a special dulcimer week at Snowbird Mountain Lodge in Robbinsville, North Carolina and taught the beginner's courses at the Memphis Dulcimer Festival.Paul
has performed with the string band, Les Amis, in addition to individual performances.
Denise has performed with the group "Les Amis" for the last 13+ years, but is just recently embarking on fun music endeavors performing with Paul Andry
, and solo.
and Denise both compliment one another's playing and create a magical harmony of beautiful and fun music.
