Patricia Yates, who serves on the Lafourche Parish Recreation District board, said the center will be open at 7:30 p.m. and that coffee will be served.
Parents of service members from all branches are invited to discuss their children, plans for public shows of support for the troops and managing requests by members of the general public who want to send mail and packages.
Representatives of military and church organizations and anyone else wishing to give support to those who serve are also invited.

Limited shrimping opens FridayHOUMA
-- A portion of Louisiana waters will be open to shrimp-fishing vessels at 6 a.m. Friday, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife
and Fisheries says.
The area runs to the south of what fishermen are familiar with as the "inside-outside" shrimp line and the Atchafalaya River Ship Channel from the channel buoy line to the Coast Guard light off the northwest shore of Caillou Boca.Specific latitude for the light is 29.3.10 north and 90.50.27 west.
