Patrick J Sloyan has covered national and international affairs since 1960. He has been awarded journalism's most distinguished prizes for domestic and foreign reporting, including the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for his 1990 coverage of Desert Storm, the Persian Gulf War and its aftermath, the George Polk Award for War Reporting, the Raymond Clapper Award for investigative reporting (revelations of the windfall payments by Clinton Administration to defense contractors), and the Deadline Writing prize for his coverage of the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Also, he was a member of a Newsday team that won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Reporting on the crash of TWA 800 off the coast of Long Island.
As a foreign correspondent based in London, he covered Europe, the Mideast during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the British invasion of the Falkland Islands, and the transformation of the Soviet Union during the rise of Mikhail Gorbachev. In addition to daily journalism, he has written extensively for a variety of publications including Rolling Stone, the New Republic, the Nation, the Washington Monthly, American Journalism Review, the Washington Post Outlook and the London Guardian.

PATRICK J. SLOYAN

Patrick J. Sloyan has covered national and international affairs since 1960. He has received two Pulitzer Prizes including one for international reporting for an investigative series on the 1992 Gulf War.
