Patricia L. Belden
Patricia Belden, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, has been a part of the POAH organization since its founding in 2001. Over the years she has played a lead role in the acquisition, preservation and creation of close to 8,000 affordable housing units nationally. As POAH begins its second decade, she has shifted her focus to the strategic stewardship of POAH and its affordable communities. Patricia also oversees the implementation of the Choice Neighborhood Initiative grant, a revitalization centered on the redevelopment of five city blocks in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood near the University of Chicago. POAH was awarded the first Choice Neighborhood grant of $30.5 million to transform the failing Grove Parc Apartments into a vibrant, healthy and attractive mixed-use/mixed-income urban community and connect residents with services to improve their life outcomes.
Patricia possesses a broad knowledge of complex deal structuring and layered finance, and has employed most of the available federal, state, local, private and tax credit equity resources and programs to underwrite affordable multi-family housing preservation. She previously worked at Boston Financial Group and MassHousing.
Patricia received her Bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Harvard University. She serves on the board of SquashBusters, a youth enrichment program which combines squash training with academic support and community service and has spent almost a decade in leadership roles at Riverside Boat Club in Cambridge, MA.
