The last national council of ASL was held in the city on July 27 in 2003, when AFM Bahauddin Nasim (now organising secretary of Awami League) and Pankaj Debnath were elected as its president and general secretary respectively.
Talking to BSS today, ASL general secretary Pankaj Debnath said all preparations for holding the council have been completed by this time.
said, "Already, all the grassroots level units including 73 organisational district units and 578 upazila units of our organisation have been redressed.
We are hoping that nearly 2,05,000 councillors will join our national council."
said, "There is no bar on age or profession for anybody to pursue the politics of Awami Swechchasebak League
indicated that amendments to the constitution of ASL
with induction of an expanded new committee of the organisation might be witnessed at the national council of ASL
