"It offers an incredible feeling of hope to know that state governments across the United States will come together to promote pancreatic cancer awareness and support the PanCAN effort to find the cure for this horrendous disease," said PanCAN Co-Founder Pamela Acosta.PanCAN is the first national, public-benefit, patient advocacy organization for the pancreatic cancer community. In just over two years, PanCAN has overcome major hurdles to become a recognized force among the ranks of national advocacy groups battling devastating illnesses.PanCAN works to focus national attention on the need to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. The organization provides public and professional education embracing the urgent need for more research, effective treatments, prevention programs and early detection methods. Many people are surprised to learn that pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States for men and women.Lack of an early detection method and minimal awareness of symptoms, lead to diagnosis in advanced stages of pancreatic cancer.
