...District Governor Pam Harkema and TomPresident of two business consulting firms, Pam Harkema joined Owosso Rotary in 1993 and has eight years of perfect attendance.She served as club president in 1999-2000, then as District Public Relations chair, Area 3 Assistant Governor and District Trainer.She is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, foundation benefactor, and charter member of the Paul Harris Society.She served as chair of the District 6310 Annual Conference in Owosso in 2002.Harkema
was honored in 2001 with the Owosso Rotary
Club's Vocational Excellence Award. Harkema started the marketing firm Creative Focus in 1992 providing public relations, marketing, and training services for non-profit organizations, especially development and implementation of anti-stigma campaigns for community mental health organizations.She
had also provided technical writing services for several years to MQI
, an ISO quality process training and consulting firm.In 2002, she acquired MQI and currently serves as CEO.
Both businesses assist clients throughout Michigan with a diverse selection of training and consulting services.Harkema was graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1980 with bachelor degrees in Journalism and Political Science and moved to Michigan in 1988 with her husband Tom, a high school teacher and coach who also joined Rotary in 2003 just prior to his participation in a National Immunization Day in India.
The Harkemas have two daughters, Anne and Madaline.Harkema
is active in several community and regional committees with Girl Scouts, Owosso First United Methodist Church
, Genesee/Shiawassee Education Advisory Group, and Detroit Annual Conference.She is past chair of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber Foundation.
