Pallavi Sharma - Indian American Artist
...
Pallavi Sharma a renowned Artist, who consciously project her ideas in variety of forms and mediums. She has no inhibitions in her art techniques and loves to work in various mediums to achieve maximum of any kind of experience.
She was born and bred in India, moved to America in 1997. She completed her Bachelors in Fine Arts and Masters in Fine Arts from Baroda, India and received her PhD from Delhi in Art History from National Museum Institute of History and Conservation of Art where her formal training in Art History along with performing visual arts enhanced her interdisciplinary nature of art expression. Her remarkable work has been exhibited at number of worthy venues like Queens Museum of Art, Art Asia Pacific, Exit Art and Bishop's Museum. Currently she is a privileged board member of AAWAA (Asian American Women Arts Association) and Director of (Inner Eye Art) a firm that exhibits South Asian Art.
As far as her work is concerned she has endlessly tried to create the channels to arouse the sense of freedom for upstanding the world in which she lives. In the world of hers interpretation of her life and circumstances are not a mirror image of life. In doing so she feels independent, influential and most importantly feels like being at home. Her recent fiction work appeared in New Stories by Minnesota Writers and Her Mother Ashes 3 which is the story of South Asian Women in United States and Canada.
She uses the elements of narrative in an experimental way to find out the complex relations often featured by layers of meaning. The experimental way blends with her experiences and unlocks a discourse about naturalization which is an attempt to listen and then convey the marginal perceptions of humans. She believes that everyone's leaves the safest places of theirs for a particular reason, (secure homes, and mother's womb) and these changes are deliberately made because humans are all the time looking for validation.
