Paige Desmond wrote a very good article in the Record on Thursday October 24, 2013 and it mentions in the article that the University of Waterloo's annual contribution to the Region's Gross Domestic Product in 2011 was $1.5 Billion dollars.
According to Paige Desmond of the Record, the Region of Waterloo has approved the first large construction project connected to the LRT Wednesday Feb. 6th voting to spend $8.3 million on Conestoga Parkway overpass to make way for Light Rail Trains.
