"Laboratory tests and trials on animals have shown that Aminoquinoline 13 is 10 times more efficient than chloroquinine in preventing and treating malaria," Ousmane Koita, a scientist at the University of Bamako, told AFP.The drug has been developed jointly by teams at the University of Bamako and Tulane University in Louisiana, in the United States. "If the human trials which begin Sunday are conclusive, this will really be a revolution in malaria treatment," Madama Bouare of the University of Bamako said.Koita added the drug "will not cost too much".
