.In 1976, he graduated magna cum laude from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi where he received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics.After working in the public sector for 12 years, 2 years with Monsanto Corporation of Creve Couer, Missouri, and 10 years with BellSouth Corporation in Jackson, Mississippi, Mr. Carter entered the University of Virginia School of law in 1988, earning his Juris Doctor in May 1991.
Since finishing law school, Mr. Carter
has practiced in several areas of law, including education law, personal injury, construction and surety law, products liability, and insurance bad faith.Mr. Carter
is admitted to practice in Mississippi state courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals
, Fifth Circuit
, the Mississippi Supreme Court
, and the U.S. District Court
, Northern and Southern District.Mr. Carter has served as a member of the member of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association (Director, 1993-1995).He is a member of the Mississippi Bar, the Magnolia Bar, and the Hinds County Bar.
