Ossie Hanauer is the Director for the service-learning program at the Kendall and Homestead Campuses of Miami Dade College.
This program, the largest at the college, serves more than 1,000 students and 40 faculty members per semester.
has trained faculty, students, administrators, and community partners in this pedagogy.
Ossie has served as a consultant in the area of service-learning and civic engagement, and has facilitated service-learning workshops, including the We the People Project Citizen program in Washington, D.C., Campus Compact National Center for Community Colleges Conference, American Association of Community Colleges Annual Convention, and the Ninth Annual Florida Campus Compact Service-Learning Institute.
has worked with college and university administrators around the country helping them incorporate service learning into their institutions.
has also contributed to the American Association of Community College's
A Practical Guide for Integrating Civic Responsibility into the Curriculum, and is providing training around the country on their behalf.
is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming with more than 30 years experience in the business world and is involved extensively in several community service projects.
She graduated from the University of Miami, where she holds a Bachelor of Education degree.
