After the groundbreaking, Oscar Aylor, director of development for Harnett Health Systems, said that, because of the partnership, health care education and service in Harnett were being literally transformed.
"I can't think of another county in the state that has this opportunity," he said. "What we are seeing is unprecedented - and that's not an overstatement." He added that the coming together of the organizations to transform health care in the county reminded him of the growth of the University of North Carolina medical facilities. He served on the faculty of UNC for 10 years. "They started building and they haven't stopped," he said.

Board Member Oscar Aylor is the Director of Professional Development in the Department of Health Policy and Administration at the UNC School of Public Health in Chapel Hill. His particular responsibilities include teaching, fund-raising, career counseling and placement, student mentoring, alumni relations, and relationship development among healthcare professionals and organizations in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. Mr. Aylor has over 40 years of healthcare experience including hospital leadership positions at both domestic and overseas institutions and faculty positions at Appalachian State University and UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has worked as a hospital consultant for both U.S. and international healthcare organizations. Aylor has served on the boards of several hospital, civic and community organizations, and is a past board chair of Lumiere Medical Ministries, a relief and development agency working in the Caribbean region. Mr. Aylor received his BA degree from the University of Virginia and his MS in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
